Who We Are
The Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards was incorporated in 1972 and initially consisted of 25 members. Today the Council is comprised of
30 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Agencies including the 22 Regional
Mental Health Boards incorporated under Act 310.
The purpose of the Council is to act as a liaison between its members, the Federal Government, the State Legislature, and the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. The Council offers continuing education workshops and conferences for its members and for social workers, psychologists, counselors, nurses, teachers, consumers, family members, and other mental health professionals.
